Pick Your Own Fear
Hello Pulp friends :)
October is just behind the corner, and as you all know, I always like to celebrate the Halloween month with something special like the "Sisterhood Of The Witches" of last year and the "SchermoScuro" of 2006.
So I decided to let you guys decide what it's gonna be this year :)
Below you will find 4 options, numbered. Please let me hear from you which one you would like to see from me, and please vote in mass, let me hear from as many of you as possible: this is a case were abstinence from voting is not that cool ;)
Of course, in addition to the chosen topic, I will make room here and there for more Mad Doctors and more Witches, 'cause they are never enough, right? :)
Voting ends on October 1st.
Here are the topics:
1) HAMMER OKTOBER
A tribute to the famous British gothic movies
2) UNIVERSAL FEAR
Classic Universal Horror - there is more to say? ;)
3) A CREEPY HALLOWEEN
A short original sequential tale,
written and drawn by me, in the vein
of classic CREEPY and EC magazines
4) BLOODY PULP
(Fake) pulp covers of Fear and Terror
Have a Pulp Sunday everyone!
Cheers,
Francesco

Dragon Man!
Hello, Pulp Friends,
here's the second cover (in a set of 4 covers) for the Pulp Sci-Fi role game books I was mentioning earlier this week. This cover features one of the dreaded Dragon Men of Hydrus! A pretty mean (and ugly) dude ;)
Working on a Magma creature and a hoovering robot next.
Stay tuned and have a Pulp Sunday everyone! :)
Cheers,
Francesco

Black Beetles - Part 2
Hello Pulp friends :)
Yesterday I shared the beautiful Black Beetle sketch I unexpectedly received from Dan Brereton this past weekend. I was already very excited by this joyful surprise so you can imagine how I felt when I saw a seconf BB tribute being dropped on my table. My dear good friend Dar left me speachless when he delivered this in my hands. Thank you so much, Dar! :)
I will be talking about his beautiful "HUNTER" soon. (If you haven't picked up yet, do yourself a favor and pick up the hardcover: a magnificent book and a true labor of love for the subject matter)
To see the past tributes/homages to BB check this after Heroes Con post.
I am a lucky man :D
Tomorrow I will be back with more Pulp Sci-Fi.
Cheers,
Francesco

Black Beetles - Part 1
Hello Pulp friends :)
as I was mentioning earlier, I received some unexpected surprises at this past weekend Dragon*Con. No, I am not talking of the Power Woman who turned out to be a dude ;). I am referring to some tributes to my Black Beetle drawn by a couple of artists who I have a huge admiration for and that I am honored to call friends :)
Let's start first with the awesome Dan Brereton, of Nocturnals fame. He did a quick sketch of BB and I took a little time this morning to put some colors on it. Hope you guys dig the drawing as much I did :)
It's always cool to see my own creation drawn by artists whose work I admire, like it happened in the past with Steve Epting and Dave Flora, among others.
Stay tuned tomorrow for part.2.
Cheers,
Francesco

The Lone Ranger Comes To Town!
Hello, Pulp Friends,
decided to stick arounf the Old West with this Lone Ranger convention sketch I did this past weekend at Dragon*Con for that cool guy that is Shane.
I believe this might be the first time I drew this character so thanks again for giving me the opportunity to tackle it, Shane :)

Francesco

Good, Bad, & Ugly Hex
Hello, Pulp Friends,
After the galactic advetures of yesterday, we time travel in the old west with a well known ugly mug: Jonah Hex.
I did this sketch while sitting at my table at Dragon*Con and I ended up trading it with another Hex sketch with Hex writer himslef, Mr Jimmy Palmiotti: thanks, Jimmy :)
Stay tuned for more old west in the next days ;)
Cheers,
Francesco

Galactic Adventures
Hello, Pulp Friends,
first let me apologize for missing this past Pulp Sunday but I was attending Dragon*Con and didn't have chance to work on an old time radio show.
To make up for it, expect a week full of Pulpiness (some from the Con itself).
Let's start today with this cover I did for a role game book for a UK based game company.
This is the first of 4 covers commissioned by them.
Hope you guys dig it :)
Cheers,
Francesco

FOLLOW ME...
Yep, I too finally joined in that huge social phenomenon that is TWITTER. It has been few days already and so far it's not eating too much of my time: planning to keep it that way ;)
This morning, in the news, they were saying now you can even get twitters from the surgery room, with pics and all that jazz. Crazey, don't you think? ;)
Feel free to check it out here if you have some spare time like I do ;)
As usual, click on the image for a bigger view.
Cheers,
Francesco
