FF @ ECCC 2013 - Sketches & Panel info

Emerald City Comic Convention - Seattle March 1-3 2013

I'm so excited to be invited back to this beautiful city and show. A lot of people have asked me about my sketch availability and rates, so here's how I plan to handle that (subject to change if needed).

Location: I'm in Artist Alley, table M-06 (see diagram below - click on the image for larger view).

I'm on 2 panels, Friday & Saturday and hope you'll attend.

Room: HALL B (608-610)
Start: 3:10PM
End: 4:05PM
The latter half of 2012 saw the return of two of Dark Horse's classic characters, Ghost and X, new faces like Michael Avon Oeming's The Victories, and Francesco Francavilla's The Black Beetle, and even a completely reimagined hero from yesteryear, Captain Midnight! As we move into 2013, there is no sign of slowing down, as Dark Horse will introduce even more original heroes and villains throughout the year! Join Dark Horse PR Director, Jeremy Atkins, as well as a cast of the industry's top talent, including Kelly Sue DeConnick (Ghost, Captain Marvel, Avengers Assemble), Joe Casey (Catalyst, Sex), Michael Avon Oeming (The Victories, Powers), Francesco Francavilla (The Black Beetle), and Joshua Williamson (Captain Midnight, Masks and Mobsters), for a look at an exciting new cast of characters for 2013!

Room: HALL B (608-610)
Start: 6:10PM
End: 7:05PM
Join the Dynamite gang and their star-studded line-up of creative talent for an hour of explosive power!  Mark Waid takes charge with Green Hornet!  Matt Wagner knows what evil lurks at the heart of The Shadow!  Chris Roberson unmasks Masks!  Get the latest news right from the source, as the guys give a dynamic glimpse behind-the-scenes with Ron Marz’s Prophecy, Brandon Jerwa’s Vampirella, and Eric Trautman’s Red Sonja!  Plus Francesco Francavilla, Jim Zub, and more!

I will sign books and prints (and thank you for supporting me by buying my stuff)! If you have a lot of books and there's a long line, I may ask you to let me do it in batches just to be considerate to others. This year, I'm joining HERO INITIATIVE's goal to raise some money for their charity. I will have a tip jar at my table and will be very happy if you make a donation (even of 1 dollar) to Hero as a thanks for signing your books. You can read more details about HERO INTITATIVE at ECCC here.
I might also set up some specific time for the signatures if needed, but for STOP&CHAT and handshakes, pls feel free to stop anytime, as long I am at the table ;)

I will be at both Dark Horse and Dynamite booths on Friday and Saturday to sign all the books you want:

Convention Sketches
Yes, I will be doing sketches at the show. I can't do any sketching prior to the show due to deadlines.
The sketches (or, as I like to call them, mini-commissions) will be 9x12 Bristol, single-figure, some background, done with pencils, inks and probably washes.
My prices are: Head/Bust - $100; Full-Figure $250.
I try to do a few of these per day. It's done first-come, first-serve, so just come see me early to get on the list. I will do a new list every day. I take cash or credit card (assuming this new iPad gizmo works).
Below is a sample of a 9x12 full figure, fully inked sketch.

Prints & Books
I'm flying so I won't have a large variety of prints with me. I'll definitely have some Black Beetle, Poe, Lovecraft, and USRA prints. I'll also have a limited quantity of my sketchbooks (Chiaroscuro Vol.1 & Schermoscuro Vol.1).
Sketchbooks are $20 each and they come with a quick small sketch inside.

Hello Pulp Friends,

Today we have a TRIPLE PULP FEATURE with The Shadow, The Spider, and MASKS! :)

MASKS is the miniseries featuring all of the classic pulp heroes in one book: Shadow, Spider, Zorro, Green Hornet, Kato, you name it and it will probably be in there :)
I was fortunate enough to provide a variant cover for the first issue and I was very happy to be asked to do some more covers, like the one for #7 above.

In addition, above and below are the newest covers for THE SHADOW and THE SPIDER: all these books are slated to be released in May, so make sure to have them on your pull list: good writing (from dear friends Chris Roberson and David Liss) and great art make these a no-to miss addition to your pulp reads.

THE BLACK BEETLE #1 Goes Back To Print!

THE BLACK BEETLE: NO WAY OUT #2 Teaser ~~ Click on the images for biggie ~~

Hello Pulp Friends,

I am so excited to announce that, due to the high demand and to the fact #1 is sold out pretty much everywhere (from Diamond/distributor to the local shops), Dark Horse has decided to send #1 back to print so everybody can enjoy THE BLACK BEETLE experience/fun in its entirety :)
For the occasion I was asked to provide a new cover pretty much overnight, new cover you can see above and which I hope you enjoy.

Thanks again everyone for making this happen: it really is a dream come true for me to bring Black Beetle in the stores (and in your hands) so seeing becoming this popular is just the cherry on top of this wonderful journey.

Stick with us for the long run and you will be entertained, I can promise you that :)

In related news, I wanted also to congratulate my Black Beetle editor supreme and dear friend Jim Gibbons in his well deserved promotion to Associate Editor at Dark Horse. Way to go, Jim, let's keep rockin' this :)

Here's the Official Press Release from Dark Horse about Black Beetle #1 going back to print.

Francesco Francavilla's Black Beetle #1 Being Reprinted!

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again! Eisner Award–winning artist Francesco Francavilla’s new series at Dark Horse is already being called one of the year’s best! After receiving unanimous praise from retailers, fans, and every media outlet under the sun, The Black Beetle: No Way Out #1 has officially sold out of its first printing!

Now, we are proud to announce that despite our best efforts, demand was just too high to keep stock on shelves. In order to time as closely as possible with the release of the critically acclaimed series’ second issue, Francesco Francavilla and Dark Horse Comics have put together another printing with an all-new cover!

This new series introduces the Black Beetle, a mob-busting costumed supersleuth, as he investigates a bombing that has killed off some of Colt City’s notorious criminals! Steeped in pulp noir with modern sensibility, this is one new series you need to read!

“I am very humbled by the great response that The Black Beetle has received. This is such a work of love that’s been in the making for several years, and I am thrilled to see so many people are really digging the book,” said creator Francesco Francavilla. “It’s my goal to make this a book that can be enjoyed by those who love classic pulp stories, as well as new fans who want a fun, entertaining read. I can’t wait to show everyone what’s coming up next!”

Retailers, the second printing of The Black Beetle #1 is available through Diamond now, using the following order code: DEC128352. This issue will be on sale in the direct market on March 13, 2013.

Fans, look for The Black Beetle: No Way Out #2 at your local comic shop on February 20!
