"THE INVISIBLE MAN" ~ (1933)

Hello Pulp Friends,

It's HORROCTOBER and today's offering is a classic: THE INVISIBLE MAN!
This poster was part of the "THE UNIVERSAL MONSTERS" show organized by MONDO, show that opened 2 days ago in their gallery in Austin.

The screen-print poster turned out magnificent! It's 24x36" and if you missed the opportunity to get one from the regular but limited and numbered edition (405) at the show, I just received the APs (see below) so I should have them for sale at some point (when I am done with some deadlines and figure out some packing logistics).

Day 14 of our Classic Horror Marathon features another Cult movie based once again on one of H.G. Wells' books: "THE INVISIBLE MAN"!

The Invisible Man

starring: Claude Rains, Gloria Stuart, William Harrigan

Returning from a trip to India, a scientist experiments on himself with a drug, which turns him completely invisible. Sure of his own omnipotency, he spreads fear and panic and even kills a few people. In the end, he is killed by a cop who tracks him by the trail he leaves on the snow.

Mad Doctors: Dr. Jack Griffin

What would you do if you were invisible? ;)

Claude Rains, Griffin in "The Invisible Man" (1933), is the best example of a mad scientist. When we first meet Jack Griffin, he is already the victim of his own experiments: invisible and wanting an antidote. Unlike the H.G. Wells book upon which the movie is based,his descent into megalomania is an overlooked side effect of monocaine,the drug he has used to make himself unseen.

There is a rather nice continuity error for those collectors of trivia out there. Although the Invisible Man is naked so he can be completely invisible,the footprints left by him in the snow at the end of the film show the shape of a pair of shoes.
Another trivia: Dr Griffin has no first name in the HG Wells' novel.

Well, the week is over but, as mentioned, I might do another Mad Doctor week sometime soon. Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did :)
