The Shadow Knows!
~~ Click on the image for biggie ~~
Hello Pulp Friends,
Those of you who have been following Pulp SUnday since day one know that I started this blog with the old radio shows of THE SHADOW and providing lobby card art to go with each episode. So you know how much I love this pulp icon, right?
Well, I am VERY excited to announce that I will be providing covers for the new THE SHADOW series at Dynamite, written by Garth Ennis and drawn by Aaron Campbell :)
The above is not a cover, or not exactly a cover (more like a tease from a cover ;)) but I can't wait to show you what I have been cooking for this.
Stay tuned in for more details coming soon :)
Cheers,
Francesco

"007 - Dr No" (1962)
~~ Click on the images for biggie ~~
Hello Pulp friends,
this new 2012 is special not just because it will see the debut of our beloved Black Beetle in stores ;) but also because it marks the 50th Anniversary of the first James Bond movie! Yep, it has been 50 years that the most famous super spy has been entertained us in the movie theaters, so I thought Pulp SUnday should celebrate this even with a gallery of Bond inspired art (and more)
To start, here's my movie poster version of the first 007 film of all: "Dr No", from 1962.
Hope you guys like the initiative and pls feel free to turn this in a Bond/Fleming discussion club: I am gonna go ahead and work on those Martinis ;)
Have a wonderful Pulp Sunday , everyone :)
Cheers,
Francesco

FRANKENSTEIN's MONSTER
~~ Click on the images for biggie ~~
Hello Pulp friends,
here's something that is really "pulp" as it's from 23 years ago: one of my first (of many) drawings of the Frankenstein Monster :)
Below you can see the original drawing, from 1989, all in charcoal (note I already had a passion to hand draw titles/text in the art at that time ;)), and above is an updated version from this morning: decided to give it a color treatment and when I was done I realized I had channeled - subconscious - a Basil Gogos vibe into it.
Any-who, hope you guys dig it and wish you all a wonderful Pulp Sunday :)
Cheers,
Francesco

"Hi Ho Silver!" (aka Lone Ranger #3 Cover)
~~ Click on the image for biggie ~~
Hello Pulp Friends,
The new LONE RANGER series hits the stores today, so I thought to celbrate the event by sharing my cover for issue 3 :)
Of Course the "Silver" int he title of the post refers more to the color approach on this cover rather than LR's horse. Hope you guys dig it.
And ples go grab issue 1 in stores today: it's written by my friend Ande Parks and drawn by the excellent Esteve Polls, the same creative team that brought you the LR/Zorro mini few months ago, so you this is good :)
Cheers,
Francesco
