THE SHADOW #5 Cover

Hello Pulp Friends,

Keeping it in tune with the last few days here on Pulp Sunday, here's my most recent cover for THE SHADOW #5, in which I just realized I channeled a bit of Kaluta without even knowing it :)

This - unlikely the previous Shadow covers of mine - will be a regular cover so it will be sold in the comicshops at the regular cover price :) Just make sure to pre-order #5 asking for my cover to make sure you get one.

And speaking of Pulp heroes, get ready for THE BLACK BEETLE's NIGHT SHIFT Pt. 2 out in a couple of days in Dark Horse Presents #12. I posted some art sneak peek on The Black Beetle blog :)

Have a wonderful Pulp Sunday, everyone.

Cheers,
Francesco

The Shadow Is Aiming At You!

Hello Pulp Friends,

Here's my variant cover for THE SHADOW #2, out today in stores. I am not sure yet if this will be available in stores or not, but if not, pls contact Dynamic Forces and see how to purchase it.
I am glad to announce that the next variants for this series will be available in stores like all my other covers :)

Here's the solicits:
THE SHADOW #2 ~ written by Garth Ennis - illustrated by Aaron Campbell
Lamont Cranston and Margo Lane fly west on Pan Am's fabulous China Clipper- but the golden age of air travel might just mean fiery death above the clouds for our heroes. In Shanghai, Major Tateo Kondo of Japanese military intelligence puts his own plans in motion, while his American counterparts struggle to catch up. The Shadow battles aerial assassins and worse, in part two of the six-part The Fire Of Creation.

And speaking of Pulp heroes, get ready for THE BLACK BEETLE's NIGHT SHIFT Pt. 2 out next week in Dark Horse Presents #12. I posted some art sneak peek on The Black Beetle blog :)

Cheers,
Francesco

The Shadow Knows!

Hello Pulp Friends,

Those of you who have been following Pulp SUnday since day one know that I started this blog with the old radio shows of THE SHADOW and providing lobby card art to go with each episode. So you know how much I love this pulp icon, right?
Well, I am VERY excited to announce that I will be providing covers for the new THE SHADOW series at Dynamite, written by Garth Ennis and drawn by Aaron Campbell :)
The above is not a cover, or not exactly a cover (more like a tease from a cover ;)) but I can't wait to show you what I have been cooking for this.

Stay tuned in for more details coming soon :)

Cheers,
Francesco

Enemy Ace

Click on the above and below illo for LARGER views.

Hello Pulp Friends,

To keep it in the WWII theme, here's a pinup I just finished for a retrospective dedicated to Garth Ennis (in this case: Enemy Ace War in Heaven) during the upcoming Napoli Comicon, Naples, Italy.

Geez how much love drawing this kinda stuff :D

Below the B/W inks, which turned out almost with a Toppi vibe to them, and a sepia/greyscale old-looking version.
Hope you guys enjoy :)

Cheers and stay warm,
Francesco
