New FF Store for ART-PRINTS-BOOKS

Original Art, Limited Prints, Art Books!!!

Hello Pulp Friends,
The new place for purchasing original art, art prints (limited prints like my MONDO's CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON or other archival giclee art prints), limited edition sketchbooks and books from me is
http://francavilla.bigcartel.com/

I am updating the store with new items so please check it often. I do most of the announcements of new items via TWITTER - you can follow my feed @f_francavilla to be up-to-date with what is on sale on the store page.
If you are interested in a print that is not yet on the store page, pls contact me for availability.

ON SALE TODAY!!!

MONDO's CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON(24" x 36" screen print. Signed and numbered AP edition of 23 - only 15 will be on sale).

These are the Artist Proofs of the sold-out special San Diego Comicon 2012 Mondo edition. Printed by D+L Screen Printing.
All prints are signed, numbered, and remarqued - I planned a very cool and nice way to fit the original art in the design of the poster.

This item will be on sale this afternoon (EST) Sept 6. Exact drop time will be announced on twitter (@f_francavilla). Thanks!

Cheers,
Francesco

~~ Click on the image for biggie ~~

Hello Pulp Friends,

Today's offerings include a commissioned sketch (from HeroesCon) of a classic pulp superhero: THE HANGMAN!
Plus the cover for issue 10 of the Lone Ranger featuring Tonto. The new arc "NATIVE GROUND" focuses on Tonto's past - if you are not reading this amazing book by Ande Parks and Esteve Polls, you are missing out big!

I wanted also to let everyone know I am still working out the details on how to sell the AP prints of the Creature. Be assured I will be giving PLENTY of notice when things are finalized so everyone will have a chance to order one (limited amount permitting).

Meanwhile, wish you all a wonderful Pulp Sunday :)

Cheers,
Francesco

"The SHADOW and the Bloody Hand of Doom"

THE SHADOW #7 Cover
~~ Click on the image for biggie ~~

Hello Pulp Friends,

Here's my cover for THE SHADOW #7 due in stores in October.
Be ready for a double SHADOW serving next month when I will be revealing the covers for November :)

I wanted also to let everyone know I received my Artist Proofs (see above) for the CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON poster art I did for Mondo. The amount is very limited (about 20 copies) so I am trying to figure out how to put them on sale (and find out related shipping method/costs - never shipped something this big) and make it a very limited/special poster to hang on your wall.
Tune in middle of the week for details.

Meanwhile, wish you all a wonderful Pulp Sunday :)

Cheers,
Francesco

EISNERs, The Black Beetle, and Creature From The Black Lagoon!

Best Cover Artist Eisner Winner FF

Hey guys,

it's a very very special edition of Pulp Sunday for many reasons, and for some great news, all coming out from last week's SDCC. Please read the full post and you'll see. :)

~~~~
EISNER!!!
As you can guess from the photo above, I won an EISNER for the BEST COVER ARTIST category! Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible, including you all guys always being so kind and supportive of my work :)
It was great to see lots of my friends being rewarded too: guys like Darwyn Cooke, Ramon Perez, Paolo Rivera, Mike Norton, and list goes on and on. Great comics and great creators being rewarded is always wonderful to see :)
But the Eisner on Friday night was just the cherry on top of a great couple of days at SDCC.
The Black Beetle in NO WAY OUT
More BLACK BEETLE! (click on the image for bigger view)
Yes, during the Dark Horse panel on Thursday, I announced the upcoming (and long awaited) NO WAY OUT, a new Black Beetle mini starting at the very beginning of 2013 and that will tell the story that some of you have started reading in the (now sold out) Black Beetle #0 ashcan.
Before the mini, you will also have a chance to get the whole NIGHT SHIFT story that run in Dark Horse Presents #11-12-13 in a one shot that will include some extras and will have a brand new cover. And this is just the beginning of the Black Beetle saga: expect much more in 2013 :)
The Creature From The Black Lagoon MONDO's CREATURE FORM THE BLACK LAGOON! (click on the image for bigger view)
Last but not least, on Friday morning MONDO released my first poster I did with them: CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, part of their Universal Monster line.
The poster, limited and numbered to 325 copies, sold out within an hour. I am expecting a certain number of Artist Proofs so stay tuned on my blogs or on my twitter feed (@f_francavilla) for the chance to get a copy if you missed out in SD.
And yes, more collaborations with MONDO are in the plans :)
Hope you all are as excited as I am for the Eisner, The Creature, and  - most of all - for more Black Beetle!
Have a wonderful Pulp Sunday, everyone :)
Cheers,
Francesco
31 Days of Halloween ~ 1: Creature From the Black Lagoon
31 Days of Halloween: Creature From the Black Lagoon
~~ Click on the image for biggie ~~
Hello Pulp Friends,
it's that time of the year again... no, it's not Xmas yet, I meant it's Halloween time! :D
So, in the long tradition of TCM (that airs all classic horror movies all month along) I thought to re-run a classic collection of Classic Horror Movie illos I did a few years back, with a final surprise at the end of the month.
I know a few of you (yes, I am talking to those 4 or 5 of you who have known me for a while ;)) may have seen this already so pls don't spoil the surpirse. To everyone else, please enjoy my little tour in the B/W classic scary movies and tune in every day this October for a new illo :)
To start this marathon, I give you "CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON"!
Creature from the Black Lagoon
USA, 1954
directed by Jack Arnold
starring:
Richard Carlson, Julie Adams, Richard Denning, Antonio Moreno
An expedition sails up the Amazon River looking for a mysterious, legendary amphibious creature. Captured, the creature escapes and starts to seed terror. A masterpiece of the Fantastique with superb underwater sequences and two sequels.
Cheers,
Francesco
