Doc Savage
(click on the above image for a bigger view!)
Hello Pulp friends :)
I have been wanting to draw Doc Savage for a long time so you will understand how happy I was when I was asked to illustrate a Doc Savage article for the 2010 issue oof the awesome pulp magazine "THE PULPSTER" (out in August - cover below).
The above text is just something I added: in the magazine you will find the actual article on the side bar and on the next pages.
Hope you guys dig it and have a wonderful Pulp Sunday everyone :)
Cheers,
Francesco

Well, that certainly is an excellent Man of Bronze illo.
You always surprise me with your choices and congrats on scoring the Savage assignment.
Have no fear!
The Artist of Bronze is HERE!
Nice combo of the James Bama paperback Doc with a Paul Orban pulp "feel"!
Holy moley that's sweet!
I like more the cover. Have a pulp feel very seductive.
Love Doc! Read most of the Bama-covered paperbacks when I was a teen.
Nice job!
FF, why aren't you on that First Wave business at DC? You should be on Doc or the Avenger, preferably on your own or with writers who can actually write the characters.
Which reminds me: Gabriel Hardman has a similar retro-evocative style as your own and is doing fairly well, what with Hardman's upcoming Hulk run in particular. I'd like to believe comic book Big Two titles have room for the Francovillas and Hardmans of the world. It's time for Francovilla's Doom Patrol. That's all I'm saying.
You have done Bama proud! Love Doc Savage!
Doc is one of my all time favs.
Thanks for sharing, Francesco.
Hello, Francesco. I'm a fan of your work since I've found your website/blog. I grow up with comics like Tarzan, Lone Ranger and Tex (Bonelli Editore from Italy). I should say that your site is a very good way to remember all the good things and it icludes The Shadow, Green Hornet, Flash Gordon ando so many more things.
I apreciate very much, of course, this artwork with the man of Bronze.
If you culd find some piece of time I'd like to invite you to see some of my ow draws at www.jjmarreiro.blogspot.com I'm a brazilian artist and I have a special interest in classics. Any word or tips you can give by coment I apreciate to much. Apologizes for the bad english and for the daring.Thank you.
Oh, I'm so excited to see the Man of Bronze finally on your blog! I really hope we see more of him in the future, and maybe his assistants as well!
